Back in the late 70s and early 80s, Walter Hill was one of the reasons why I wanted to grow up and make movies. His career hasn't recovered since he overreached with Streets of Fire, but before that he churned out a series of transcendent genre pics, including this stylish crime movie about a getaway driver matching wits with a ruthless detective.
