Serenity
7.5/10. Watched this on February 19 on DVD.
This big-screen adaptation of the small-screen flop "Firefly" is, unfortunately, not an example of just how good that show could be. (Writer-director Joss Whedon admits that he had trouble with the script.)
Nevertheless, it is still very good, with a particularly impressive climax that becomes progressively, and unnervingly, reminiscent of The Wild Bunch. I'm not exaggerating: at a certain point, I honestly believed that Whedon had decided to kill off his entire beloved ensemble cast.

I highly recommend the show on which Serenity is based, "Firefly" (which is off the air but available on DVD).
Everything you liked about Serenity is in "Firefly" too, and the two-hour pilot episode is an outstanding "movie" in its own right.
