Christ Would Be So Proud. Not.
My own feelings about Christ notwithstanding, is there a Christian alive who doesn't believe this doctor deserves some smiting?
Is this where I mention that my God-fearing wife, who is very active with her Christian church, has a gecko tattoo on her back?CHRISTIAN PEDIATRICIAN DENIES CHILD SERVICE BECAUSE PARENTS ARE TATTOOED
BAKERSFIELD - A family is turned away by a local pediatrician because of the way they look.
The doctor said he is just following his beliefs, creating a Christian atmosphere for his patients.
Tasha Childress said it’s discrimination.
She said Dr. Gary Merrill wouldn’t treat her daughter for an ear infection because Tasha has tattoos.
The writing is on the wall—literally: “This is a private office. Appearance and behavior standards apply.”
For Dr. Merrill that means no tattoos, body piercings, and a host of other requirements—all standards Merrill has set based upon his Christian faith.
Perhaps, because my wife -- unlike innumerable assholes who confuse Christianity with Puritanism -- is as horrified by this story as I am.
If there is a Hell, then Dr. Gary Merrill has reserved his spot there. He'll be immersed in eternal ink.
The whole story is here. Thanks to onegoodmove.

So much for all the compassion and caring about others that the bible teaches....
While I know some Christians who really do believe that tattoos are sinful (though none here in Seattle), I don't know any who would refuse to serve someone on the basis of their tattoos. Let's say this doctor wasn't an ass but really held this belief in the humility that it had been revealed to him by God. Even from a standpoint of rather rigid interpretation of scripture, he should not expect others, especially non-Christians, to hold to your standards -- to be as "holy" (or legalistic, in most cases) as you are. It's called grace for a reason.
