Saw II

7/10. Saw this Sunday afternoon at the Capitol in Bern.

It sags in the middle and the director too often gets in the way. But by focusing on the ideas introduced in the first movie and taking them further, Saw II feels more like a continuation than a rehash. Also, instead of tacking on a "trick ending" that nullifies all that’s come before, the movie opts for an actual resolution that causes the movie to make more sense, not less.
