Ride the High Country

7.5/10. Watched this Saturday evening on DVD.

Sam Peckinpah's second feature is a solid adventure about two aging cowboys (played by greats Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott) who take a job transporting gold down a dangerous trail.

The look of the movie betrays Peckinpah's TV roots, but the script and acting are strong, and the director introduces many of the themes he will continue to explore throughout his career.
