Tom Cruise is an Idiot

I came across this today at IMDb News:

Tom Cruise has reportedly stopped an episode of "South Park" that mocks him from being aired in Britain. The show, in which Nicole Kidman and Cruise's fellow Scientologist John Travolta are depicted attempting to coax an animated version of the actor out of a closet, caused controversy when broadcast in the US. In the cartoon, Kidman tells Cruise, "Don't you think this has gone on long enough? It's time for you to come out of the closet. You're not fooling anyone." -- referring to allegations about Cruise's sexuality. According to TheRegister.co.uk, Paramount has agreed not to show the episode again after Cruise complained.

Something I learned in junior high school was that the kids who reacted when they got picked on or teased inevitably got picked on or teased again. It's unfortunate that Tom Cruise did not attend my junior high school, because as it stands the guy is his own worst enemy. If the "South Park" episode that defames him had been allowed to air in the UK, would IMDb News have written about it? I highly doubt it.

And what about last June when some prankster squirted him with water at the London premiere of War of the Worlds? "What's so funny about that?" he asked his assaulter, and frankly the squirting wasn't particularly funny. But Cruise's reaction was a riot, and so for several days after, a clip of the incident was an internet favorite. Had he not reacted, it's unlikely most of us would have heard about the incident at all.

Cruise should learn to let these things slide. He'd be happier if he did.
