Blood on the Red Carpet

Annie Proulx is an elegant, startling writer (her debut novel Postcards is an all-time favorite) and this Guardian commentary is beneath her. A sour grapes rant, indeed.

It's time to stop bashing L.A. (in the most obvious terms, might I add) and just give Lions Gate credit for an incredibly successful Oscar campaign. They didn't presume victory, and so they gave it all they had. They were the tortoise; Focus Features was the hare. Let's move on.
