Maniac Cop

7/10. Watched this Tuesday evening on DVD.

A key low-budget horror movie from the late 80's, made with no small amount of oddball humor and intelligence. It stars Tom Atkins, a B-movie legend perhaps best known for the original The Fog; and Bruce Campbell, cast just after the release of Evil Dead II. Shaft himself Richard Roundtree has a small but important role as the police commissioner, and Evil Dead director Sam Raimi cameos as a reporter.
