Ninotchka
9.5/10. Saw this yesterday at Kino Kunstmuseum in Bern.
Greta Garbo's penultimate effort (at age 36, after 1941's Two-Faced Woman, she retired from the industry forever) was her first comedic lead role (the tagline was "Garbo laughs!") and she pulls it off wonderfully. Co-scripted by Billy Wilder and Charles Brackett, Ninotchka is a near-perfect romantic comedy that's also an interesting time capsule of late-30s perspectives on Stalin's Russia. See it as soon as you can.
