It would help if you've seen his movies, but you don't have to be a Smith fan to enjoy this massive collection of excerpts from various Q&A sessions held at various colleges around the U.S. At nearly four hours, it's astonishing how compelling & entertaining most of this is; I actually had to force myself to spread it out over three separate sittings. Especially noteworthy are the long stories Smith tells about working with producer Jon Peters on the never-produced Superman Lives, and the week he spent in Minnesota directing a documentary for Prince.
