Lucky Number Slevin

7/10. Watched this on January 26 on DVD.

I was hoping I'd enjoy this twisty crime thriller thanks to the presence of heavyweights like Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley and Stanley Tucci -- and in spite of Josh Hartnett. Yet surprisingly Hartnett is a large part of what makes Slevin work. Here's hoping he takes on more roles where he's not required to mope and glower.

Kudos also to writer Jason Smilovic for a script that surprises without abandoning all logic, and to director Paul McGuigan for holding it all together while not showing off too much.
