Paris je t'aime

8/10. Saw this Saturday afternoon at the Club in Bern.

A two-hour collection of five-minute shorts telling Paris-set stories of love, Paris je t'aime is a startling success. Only one of the shorts doesn't work at all, and while some of the others are slight, most are very good and some are true knockouts.

The movie is also an emotional rollercoaster. Many of the shorts are laugh-out-loud funny, while the offerings from Oliver Schmitz, Nobuhiro Suwa (which stars Juliette Binoche) and Alexander Payne brought me to tears. Tears in five minutes! Amazing.
