Dead & Buried

7/10. Watched this yesterday evening on DVD.

Originally intended as a horror comedy (co-writer Dan O'Bannon went on to write and direct The Return of the Living Dead) the filmmakers were finally forced by the movie's financers to retool it into something more serious and gory. The result is one of the most memorable and unusual horror movies of the early eighties.
